Inviting New Members

The purpose of this article is to explain the multiple ways you are able to invite members to join your Wisr site. Inviting your constituents is a great way to market to your potential members and get them excited about using your institution’s Wisr site.

Before we start sending invites, it is important to understand how member pre-verification works and the process of importing your data into Wisr. Reference articles here.

List of Invitation Methods

  • Sending a single invitation to a pre-verified member
  • Sending a bulk email campaign to pre-verified members
  • Sending invitations to join a community within your site
  • Wisr-Hosted Invites
  • Allowing open signup and approving members

Pre-Verification and Sending One-Off Links

Pre-verifying and sending a link one-off is an easy way to invite one member or a few members at a time. Here is how to invite in small batches:

Step 1: Pre-Verify Members

First, pre-verify your members. For steps on how to do that, please read Managing Data in Wisr.

Step 2: Copy Personalized Link from Pre-Verification Table

Click on the pre-verified profile information and copy the Invite URL to send to the member.

Step 3: Send the Invite URL

Then, take the Invite URL and send to the member.

Once the member clicks on their Invite URL they will see their personalized sign-up page (like the one below). Members will then sign-up and have full access to their active profile.

After creating your marketing email, you can use the unique Invite URLs associated with pre-verified records as a custom variable/external link. From here, you are able to send your personalized message to your members.

Once a member clicks on their Invite URL they will see a personalized sign-up. Members will then sign-up and have full access to their active profile.

Community Invitation

Inviting members through communities offers a way to encourage members to join your communities as well as another engagement touchpoint.

Step 1: Pre-Verify Members

First, pre-verify your members. For steps on how to do that, please read Importing Data Into Wisr  Importing Data Into Wisr.

Step 2: Navigate to Your Community Members

Start by clicking into the community you want to invite members to join. This should take place in the member-face side of your site (not the admin backend). Once you are inside the community  navigate to the Members tab and then click the + icon in the top right corner.

Step 3: Find Members

Type the member’s name in the invite bar and then select the person you want to invite from the drop-down menu. You can also paste a comma separated list of emails and hit Enter.

Step 4: Write a Personalized Message and Send

Add a personal message to customize the invitation and give your invitees more context about the community. When you're happy with your message and have added all of your invitees, click  Invite Members. This generates a personalized invitation that pulls in your name, the community name, the community headline and header image, and your personal note.

If an invitee is already a member of your network, they can click the CTA button in the invitation email. They will also find the community invitation waiting for them on their dashboard. If the invitee is not a member of your network yet, they will be prompted to walk through onboarding and create an account first. After creating their account they will see the invitation waiting for them on their dashboard.

For more detailed information about communities, check out the community section here.

Wisr-Hosted Invites

In addition to your institution-owned invitations, you can delegate your invitation strategy to the Wisr team through Wisr-Hosted Invites. Reach out to your Partner Success Manager to help set up and send invitations to pre-verified members through a series of emails that include:

  • Customizable Templates
  • Your institutions branding
  • Partner-preferred messaging cadence (timing and number of invites and/or reminders)

Signing Up Without an Invitation

Members are still able to sign up without being invited to join the site. In this case, they will show up in the admin background in the Pending section of the member tables. To learn more about member management and how to approve members, read this article: Managing Members.

Tip: Adding a Dynamic Landing Page can allow you to boost adoption, ask your Partner Success manager how!
