Member Interaction
Wisr Virtual Communities’ primary purpose is to bring your members together. Forming connections with other members and providing a centralized space to ask questions allows users to gain a sense of belonging with your campus and get the information they need. Member Interaction occurs both through 1-1 Connections as well as through engagement in Community Discussions.
1-1 Connections
Chats
Members can engage directly with each other through 1-1 Chats where they can direct message each other in a safe and secure space without sharing personal contact information. Students can engage with your campus ambassadors as well as with each other to form bonds and ask questions. Members receive an in-app notification as well as an email nudge when they receive a new chat message.
@Mentions
The @ Mentions functionality allows members who have joined a community to tag fellow members of that community in discussions and posts. The ability to directly tag student members and ambassadors makes it easier to discover and share relevant content and/or direct a question to a specific person.
Calls (if enabled)
The call scheduling tool allows for both members to share their availability, and Wisr automatically creates a conference line and unique dial-in code for both parties which removes the need to exchange private contact information. Initiating Contact
Members can find other members to connect with in a number of ways. When viewing another member, there is a “Send a message” (or Schedule call if applicable) button to start a conversation.
Recommended Members
On the home screen, members will be able to see Recommended Members. These members are recommended based on Goals and matching Volunteer items selected during the Onboarding process.
Member Search
The Members menu shows a directory of all active members with a number of filtering options allowing users to align the search with their needs.
Communities
Within each Community there is a Member list available showing all other members of the community. Members can also click into another member’s profile from a Discussion thread, where they can see the “Send a message” button.

Creating communities that focus on broad topics of interest to your members helps them to connect to others with common interests. Consider your communities carefully to ensure they are broad enough to be relevant to large groups of members, but specific enough that members know what types of discussions and interactions might take place there. Discussions
Members interact with discussion posts both passively and actively to learn about your campus and build a sense of belonging and community. Discussion threads are a way to share information, reminders, bring awareness to deadlines, and answer FAQs, but also a way for members to engage with each other.
Discussion threads allow for different ways to engage. Members may passively engage by browsing discussion topics, where as an admin you can see a view count to determine which topics your members are engaging with. They may also actively engage with the post via a reply or a reaction to the topic.
