9.16.2020 | Discussion Upgrades: Real-Time and Topic Pinning

In this release, Wisr has added two big upgrades to our Discussion board functionality: Real-time Updates and Topic Pinning. 

Real-Time Post Updates

Often times there can be a 'flurry' of activity on our Discussion Boards, especially right after launching your site to newly admitted students. There is also an increased trend of hosting "AMAs" (Ask me Anythings), where specific ambassadors are available in a group chat setting. In these cases, the Discussion Board may be updating by the minute. To support this engagement, our Discussion Boards will not automatically prompt in real time if new posts are made. 

The following alert will appear on the bottom of a Member's screen if we detect a new post, and allow the Member to view it without hard-refreshing their browser.

Topic Pinning

As an Administrator of Community Leader, it's often helpful to create a Welcome Post or highlight a key announcement that you need your community members to be aware of. Topic Pinning will fix your Topic Post to the top of the Discussion Board, even as new posts are created.

You can pin and un-pin as many topics as you would like within each Community Discussion Board.
