7.29.2020 | Introducing Top-Level Discussions
In this product update, we have released a new top-level tab to every Wisr Site called Discussions. The Discussions Tab centralizes Discussion Topics across every community-based discussion board in your Wisr Site. The Discussion Tab displays a combination of topics from all public communities, as well as topics from private and invite-only communities that your members belong to.
What Has Improved?
Prior to this update, finding a Topic in Wisr required navigating to individual communities and searching their discussion boards. This update enables viewing, searching and filtering across every topic in your Wisr Site.
Creating a New Topic
Clicking Create a new topic will open a new central topic creation screen. Topics are still linked to a specific community. As an admin, you will have the ability to post a topic in any community. Your members will only be able to create topics in communities that they have joined.
The newly created topic will display on the central Discussion Tab as well as the Community Discussion board that it is linked to. Here is an example:
Searching, Sorting and Filtering for Topics
Searching a discussion board is keyword driven, and searches both the Topic Title and Topic Description.
Sorting options include:
- Newest first
- Oldest first
- Most active
- Recent activity
Filtering displays topics from all communities you belong to and all public communities by default. If your members want to only see topics from communities they have joined, they can filter to Only communities you belong to.
New Topic Screen
When clicking on a topic in the central Discussion Tab, a new Topic Page will open. This page will prompt the user to join the community that the topic is linked to as a method to grow community membership. If the Member is already a part of the community that the Topic is linked to, they will be able to reply or post to the Topic.
